Mystic Seaport Museum offers a number of summer camps and programs that provide a unique learning adventure! Our wide selection of Summer Day Camps offers campers ages 4 to 16 a kid’s-eye-view of maritime history as they explore the Museum. Community Sailing day camps let kids ages 6 to 15 build and refine their sailing skills with our sailing instructors out on the Mystic River. Our residential, Joseph Conrad Overnight Camp invites campers 8 to 15 to spend a week with us, learning to sail by day, doing fun maritime themed activities in the evenings, and sleeping aboard a historic ship by night. And teens 15 and up can sail along the coast as part of the crew of the schooner Brilliant. Select the camp that best suits your children and give them a summer to remember at Mystic Seaport Museum! Experience the Museum’s waterfront from both land and sea—and step into the life of a sailor. Mornings are spent exploring Museum exhibits and participating in hands-on activities, which may include climbing the rigging on the historic Joseph Conrad, learning the basics of celestial navigation in the Treworgy Planetarium, and trying a variety of maritime crafts.
In the afternoons, campers head to the Sailing Center to learn small-boat sailing on the Mystic River with our U.S. Sailing–certified instructors using the Museum’s fleet of historic Dyer Dhows.
For alumni of our Joseph Conrad Sailing Camp, this program offers a fun, relaxed way to revisit many favorite activities in a day-camp format. |

Get ready to go on a colorful adventure! In Go Wild with Art, little artists will explore the amazing world of jungle and safari animals through creative art projects inspired by famous artists. From painting playful monkeys swinging through trees to crafting majestic lions on the savanna, campers will use their imaginations to bring wild animals and their habitats to life. Each day is packed with hands-on fun, where children will experiment with bright colors, textures, and different art techniques while learning about the animals and environments that inspire their creations. This camp is the perfect place for young artists to explore, imagine, and let their creativity run wild! Artists will celebrate the end of the week with a Grand Finale Art Exhbit for friends and family to view on Friday afternoon!

Artists will spend the week exploring the world of sculpture using materials such as clay, and cardboard! From creating small, imaginative environments to large, vibrant installations, campers will experiment with geometric and abstract shapes to bring their ideas to life in three dimensions. The creative process will begin with 2D sketches and drawings to plan and guide each project. This hands-on camp focuses on developing skills with a variety of sculpture and ceramic tools, techniques, and materials. Campers will have the opportunity to design and create unique, personalized 3D artworks that express their own ideas and creativity. Artists will celebrate their hard work on Friday afternoon with a Grand Finale Art Exhibit with all ceramic and 3-D creations on display!

Does your camper love caring for animals? This week is for them! Animal Care campers work hands-on with our resident animals. Activities include setting up and cleaning tanks, feeding, and providing enrichment activities for our resident animals. Campers also learn about the care of wild animals in our rescue and rehabilitation program. Campers alternate animal care opportunities with hikes, games, and other nature camp activities. |
