Welcome to Mystic Seaport Museum —The Museum of America and the Sea. Founded in 1929, our 19-acre museum along the waterfront includes a 19th-century seafaring village, tall ships and small boats, exhibit galleries, a renowned planetarium and much more!

Mystic Seaport Museum is an experiential education facility where students step back into history, explore science and math, and connect to literature and art as they learn more about the maritime world. We offer unparalleled hands-on opportunities for students to climb aboard historic ships, interact with costumed roleplayers from 1876, learn about the stars and skies, explore coastal life and trades, and even take a boat ride aboard one of our national historic landmarks.

For over 50 years, our Education Department has worked with educators and afterschool professionals to provide an educational experience specially tailored to the needs of their curriculum. Mystic Seaport Museum's educational programs emphasize authentic, hands-on, relevant learning in which students are active and collaborative participants in theireducation.

Mystic Seaport Museum also offers a number of summer camp programs that provide a unique learning adventure where meeting new friends is fun and easy. Our wide selection of Summer Day Camps offers boys and girls ages 4 to 16 a kids’-eye-view of maritime history as they explore the Museum; Community Sailing classes let children ages 8 and older build and refine sailing skills; 10- to 15-year-olds can spend a week learning to sail by day and sleeping aboard a tall ship by night in the Joseph Conrad Summer Sailing Camp; and ages 15 and older can sail along the coast as part of the crew of the schooner Brilliant.
