Based one mile outside Pawtuxet Village, Cranston, RI, Orange Anchor Art School has art classes, adult art workshops, family art experiences, birthday parties, and summer camps! Run by 20+ year, Nationally Board Certified art teacher, Heather Rigney, Orange Anchor is a place where anyone, no matter their age or ability can create, learn, relax, and celebrate art!

Orange Anchor Art School is a place where every human being, no matter their age or skill level, can learn to unlock their creative potential. At Orange Anchor, all are welcome.

Art classes for children starting at age 5 take place after school M-F. Be sure to check out the latest class schedule here. Adults can also get in on the fun once a month on Thursdays. No experience necessary! Come relax and explore various art techniques and supplies in a fun, energetic atmosphere. Information can be found here.

Summer Camps at Orange Anchor are a special, curated experience designed for maximum fun! Many adults have asked to take these camps, but these are for kids! Check out the latest Summer Camp sessions here.

What do you get the grandparents (or any family members) that have it all? An art experience and a beautiful piece of art that commemorates the occasion! Come with your people and create fun memories as you explore art together! You'll leave with a canvas (or multiple canvases!) in the pre-arranged color/size of your choosing. Book here.

Orange Anchor Art School was established in 2022 by Heather Rigney--author, artist, and teacher. In the late 1990s, Heather graduated from RISD with her MAT in art education. She then taught middle school art in the Warwick, RI Public School system for the next 13 years and was Nationally Board Certified in 2006. In 2017, Heather taught at The Lincoln School in Providence, RI.

Heather believes that everyone has a story to tell and something they need to say. The visual arts and creative writing allow human beings the opportunity to express who they are, where they came from, and what they aspire to bring to our world.

Heather values culturally responsive teaching practices and makes sure that there are clear presentations and representations of both art and artists for BIPOC students. Heather encourages contagious enthusiasm, the celebration of mistakes as opportunities for growth, kindness, self-care, and knowledge of self. She challenges students to push themselves to their fullest potential and lives for moments when a student’s face lights up with pride, joy, and self-satisfaction because they get it or they’ve mastered a new skill.
