Summer Outdoor Adventures - Capron Park Zoo - Attleboro, MA **MULTIPLE CAMPS/MULTIPLE WEEKS

The Capron Park Zoo Education Department is proud to offer our summer programs for 2025. These week long programs are designed to inspire a love of nature, respect for animals, and a passion for conservation through an exciting combination of zoo exploration, age appropriate games, outdoor activities and as much hands-on learning as we can safely offer.

Outdoor Adventures for 5 - 6 year olds

 

Animal Tales

June 23-27

Animals can have some fun and exciting stories to tell. Each day will focus on a different children’s book with an animal related theme. That day’s activities will be based on that book and will also explore some of the animal tales waiting to be told in the zoo. The programs will feature zoo exploration, animal encounters, crafts and lots of imaginative play!

Wild Crafts

July 28 – August 1

Animals and nature can be very inspirational to artists. Program participants will create crafts and works of art based on observations they make around the zoo and in nature. While this program primarily focuses on art and craft projects, the participants will also explore the zoo, play games, engage in imaginative play, and encounter live animals.

 

Outdoor Adventures for 7 - 8 year olds

 

We Are Survivors 

June 30 – July 4

Survival for an animal in the wild can be extremely difficult. This program will examine the incredible adaptations and behaviors that animals have developed to thrive in their native habitat. The program will also feature active games, as well as incorporating crafts, zoo exploration, science experiments, and animal encounters.

Welcome Home

August 4 – 8

This program explores biomes, habitats, and the structures that some animals build for shelter. Participants will explore the methods used by nature’s architects as they construct hives, nests, and dens. Students will then look at the strategies animals use to survive in their habitat and how they protect their homes. This program will also include zoo exploration, science experiments, and animal encounters.

 

Outdoor Adventures for 9 - 10 year olds

 

Inside Out

July 7 – 11

This program explores how animals are built to survive inside and out. Activities will teach participants about animal behaviors and adaptations, explore the process of veterinary procedures, and will even include an introduction to animal dissection using a gel based dissection model. This program also features zoo exploration, animal encounters, and crafts.

Zoo Investigators 

August 18 – 22

Program participants play detective as they work to crack the case of a zoo mystery. Students will collect evidence and use science experiments to make observations, and draw conclusions. This program will feature zoo exploration, STEAM activities, animal encounters, problem solving, and crafts.

 

Outdoor Adventures for 11 - 12 year olds

 

Zookeepers in Training

August 11 – 15

This program teaches the participants what it is like to work in a zoo. They will create animal diets, design and build enrichment items, and explore what it is like to diagnose and treat animals when they are not feeling well. The program will involve zoo exploration, arts and crafts, STEAM projects, active games, and animal encounters.
