Summer at the Farm

Head to the farm to savor the sights and sounds of summer! Tour the Lake Kitchen Garden to see what’s growing (and even ready for harvest!), meet and greet our heritage breed sheep, chickens, and pigs, learn about life on a 1790s salt marsh farm, play old-fashioned games, and more. No two visits are alike!
Date-Specific Programs, Demonstrations, and Features:
July 8th-9th: Oxen Weekend
Come to Coggeshall Farm Museum and experience what life was like on an 18th-century farm, complete with a pair of visiting oxen! Jim and Bev Gould will be spending the weekend at the farm with their Old Ayrshire oxen, Ned and Buster. Together, they will demonstrate some of the tasks that oxen and their teamsters would have tended to on the farm in the 1790s. Watch the pair hard at work and have all of your oxen questions answered!
July 22nd: Sheep Shearing Day
It’s time to lighten the load of wool for all of our adult sheep! See sheep shearing demonstrations with traditional hand shears at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. There will also be costumed interpreters demonstrating the process of turning the wool from the sheep into yarn. Visitors can try out picking and carding the wool to get a feel for the process.
As the season progresses, we will be scheduling more date-specific demonstrations and activities. Check back for the latest updates!
Tickets
Pre-registration is recommended. Guests can arrive anytime after we open at 10:00 a.m. and may stay on the farm until we close at 4:00 p.m. Click your preferred date to get tickets!
