Summer Event Series: Rocket Day

10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Looking for a chance to perfect your mud pie? Not bugged by bugs? Or maybe feathers tickle your fancy. Either way, you will have a BLAST(-off) at one (or all!) of our summer events.
Celebrate each day with educator-lead programs, hands-on drop-in activities, and community partners!
Celebrate the science of space exploration on Rocket Day! Build physical or chemical rockets of your very own, then count down to blast-off when we launch a model rocket into the sky. We’re aiming high with physics, chemistry, imagination, and ingenuity!
All summer events are included with admission!
Programs Schedule:
- 11:00 am — Science Discovery: Rocket Story Time
- 11:45 am — One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure (Planetarium full-dome movie)*
- 12:30 pm — Science Discovery: Rocket Launch!
- 1:15 pm — Astronomy Live! Satellites: A Space Oddity (Educator-led program in the planetarium)*
- 2:00 pm — Astronomy Live! Tour of the Solar System (Educator-led program in the planetarium)*
- 2:45 pm — Science Discovery: Exoplanets
- 3:30 pm — CAPCOM Go! The Apollo Story (Planetarium full-dome movie)
- 4:15 pm — Afternoon Astronomy
Ongoing Activities – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm:
- Touch thee Cosmos
- Acid/Base Rockets
- Stomp Rockets
Can’t make one of our summer events? Don’t worry! We always have something new happening outside, inside, and onstage, and The Secret World of Elephants* is open until September 7! While you’re here, remember to join one of our daily planetarium programs*, take a ride on the seasonal Explorer Express Train*, or get up and close to our resident otters*.
