Milkweed in Milk Jugs
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 01/23/2021
Believe it or not, winter is a great time to start milkweed from seed! Our native common milkweed seeds need a period of cold in order to germinate so starting now is perfect! Remember that Monarch butterfly caterpillars only eat milkweed and having some in your yard will attract not only butterflies, but a whole host of native pollinators. We’ll teach you how to “defluff” milkweed seed and how to plant them so they will be ready to sprout in the spring. All of the seed has been collected locally. Preregistration is required. Please sign up by the number of milk jugs you want to start (no more than 2 per family).
