Free Healthy homes/ Asthma Program

We are Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to working in low-income communities and with low-income families to ensure all children and residents are living in healthy, safe, and energy-efficient homes. Through our direct services and policy work, we aim to eradicate the negative health impacts of unhealthy housing for low-income children, seniors, and families to ensure better health, economic and social outcomes.

We just launched our Healthy Providence Healthy Homes Program, where we aim to provide 180 pediatric asthma patients in the 02907 zip code region, suffering from poorly controlled asthma with free healthy housing assessments and free healthy homes interventions to address home health hazards like mold, pests, lead, and other allergens to reduce pediatric asthma episodes, hospital visits, and missed school/workdays. In addition, each eligible household will receive free in-home asthma and healthy homes education (e.g. this can include best practices to adhere to a patient's Asthma Control Plan, smoking cessation tips, healthy cleaning recipes, medication adherence guidelines, proper device use, and asthma trigger identification).
