The National Museum of American Illustration (NMAI) comprises original illustrations by luminaries Norman Rockwell, Parrish, Wyeth, and 150 others at Vernon Court (1898). A true alliance of art and architecture, combining ‘Golden Age’ art in ‘Gilded Age’ architecture, the NMAI presents a zenith of American culture. Illustration art is considered ‘The most American of American Art.’
The National Museum of American Illustration (NMAI), a nonprofit independent, educational, and aesthetic organization, located on Bellevue Avenue at Vernon Court (1898), a Beaux-Arts adaptation of an 18th century French chateau. It is the first national museum devoted exclusively to illustration art. Illustration is the original art created to be reproduced in books, periodicals, art prints, and advertisements. ‘Golden Age’ paintings by Norman Rockwell, Parrish, Wyeth, and 150 other luminary artists are displayed in ‘Gilded Age’ architecture-creating a unique union of art and architecture-a national treasure. A superb venue for appreciating the greatest collection of illustration art; the most American of American art.
